Enrollment

Searching for Classes

There are two ways of getting to the Class Search function:

clicking on Search for Classes in the Courses & Grades menu (at right)

clicking the Shop link in Add Classes within the enrollment function

Important: You may use the first method to browse the online Time Schedule. However, if you wish to add classes to your study list directly from the class search function, you must use the Shop link. See Adding Classes.

There are three search modes accessible from the Select Term page and the search pages:

Basic Search: Quickly find classes by subject, or find a specific class by class number or title.

Advanced Search: Narrow your search by day, time, instructor and other criteria.

Independent Study Search: Find an independent study class by subject and/or instructor. This is the only way to find independent study classes.

If you are in the Search for Classes function, begin by selecting a term. You do not need to do this from the Add Classes page.

Basic Search

You must select or enter at least two search criteria.
Check Open Classes Only if you wish to hide classes that are closed to enrollment.
You may enter a partial Catalog Number if you select Wildcard from the drop-down list.
You may enter a partial Title.

Advanced Search

You must select or enter at least two search criteria.
To search by day of the week, check the appropriate boxes then select a filter option from the drop-down list.
To search by time, enter only the Start Time if you are unsure how long the class is.
You may enter a partial instructor name if Wildcard is selected.

Independent Study Search

You must select or enter at least two search criteria.
You may enter a partial Title.

Click for more information about the class, including a course description.

You may see listings that do not have a star (or Add button). These are course components in which you cannot enroll. They may be components in which you are automatically enrolled if you enroll in another class, or components that your department will enroll you in.

The Enrollment Sections link appears with classes that are cross-listed. Clicking on the link will show all Time Schedule entries for the class.
