How to Receive Your Diploma by Mail

Updating Your Diploma Distribution to Receive Your Diploma by Mail

It is very easy to update your Diploma Distribution options so that you receive your diploma by mail. Following are the instructions for both Spring Quarter graduates and for alumni who graduated previously in 2019-20.

Go to: Summer 2020 DiplomasSpring Quarter 2020 Graduates or Alumni (Summer, Autumn, Winter 2019-20) or Graduates with a Current Active Career or Postdocs

Summer 2020 Diplomas

All diplomas are ordered Regular First Class Domestic or International through the United States Postal Service (USPS). Summer 2020 paper diplomas mailed through the USPS will likely be considerably delayed given the upcoming American presidential election and record absentee voting.

It is important to note the following:

  • Requesting expedited delivery or tracked shipping is not possible.

  • The address indicated in the application to graduate should be able to receive mail through the end of the calendar year.

  • If you are moving between October and the end of the year, please provide the USPS a forwarding address.

  • Picking up your diploma at the Student Services Center is not available at this time.

We share in your disappointment that there may be delays in obtaining your paper diploma. There are alternative ways to show evidence of your Stanford degree:

  • Electronic Degree Certification through Axess available starting the day after conferral and a turnaround time of 30 minutes.

  • Paper Degree Certifications through our Online Document Portal starting the day after conferral with a processing time of 5 business days. FedEx options with tracking available.

  • Electronic CeDiplomas will be available to Summer graduates on November 2nd.

More information on these options can be found on the Registrar’s Degree Certification website.
