C-USP is charged by the Faculty Senate to formulate policy governing the substance and process of undergraduate education at Stanford. This includes areas such as degree requirements, transfer credit, General Education Requirements, and the academic calendar. Specific duties are:
Policies governing the structure and quality of the undergraduate curriculum;
University requirements for the baccalaureate degree, and procedures for granting exceptions to these requirements;
Standards for academic progress toward the baccalaureate degree;
Policies and standards for evaluation and acceptance of transfer credit and credit by examination for undergraduates;
Standards for conferral of University distinction upon graduation;
An appropriate system of academic advising for undergraduate students;
Standards and criteria for accreditation of extradepartmental courses, as well as the standards and criteria for appointment of any teacher of an undergraduate course unless appointed by a department or school.
C-USP also receives annual reports from the following organizations:

PWR: Program in Writing and Rhetoric
The Language Center
The Rhodes-Marshall-Churchill Committee.
