International Undergraduate Visiting Research Interns

The host department must work with an international intern and the Bechtel International Center for the required Stanford sponsored J-1 Student Intern Visa certificate. This requires the host department to complete the State Department Form DS-7002, which provides detailed information on the purpose and scope of the internship. The internship must be for a minimum of 32 hours per week, consist of no more than 20% clerical work, and fulfill educational objectives for the student's current degree program at the home institution. Bechtel Center provides a complete list of requirements to departments.

Provide Bechtel Center with the verification of the intern’s English language ability. Verification can come from an interview, recognized English test, or by signed documentation from an English language school.

Develop and conduct written evaluations for interns. Evaluations for J-1 student interns must be signed by the host department and/or faculty member and sent to Bechtel Center.
