Stanford University will not issue duplicate diplomas under any circumstances. This measure is taken to protect Alumni from identity theft. If your diploma was permanently lost or destroyed, a replacement diploma may be ordered from the Office of the University Registrar. You can order online in our Document Ordering Portal. The fee for a replacement diploma is $50. You can pay this fee online through the ordering portal. From the time the order is submitted to issuance of the replacement diploma takes 2-4 weeks.
Each replacement diploma follows the current diploma format and includes a notation stating that the diploma is a replacement of the original and listing date of its preparation. All replacement diplomas bear the signatures of the current University Chair of the Board of Trustees, President, and School Dean.
