Transcripts

Current students and alumni may now order electronic transcripts in pdf format.

See Electronic Transcript Information for Students and Alumni for more information. Information about paper transcripts follows below.

Only official transcripts are available through the University Registrar. Each transcript has the signature of the Registrar and Stanford University seal. If multiple transcripts are requested to a single address, they are packaged together in one envelope. Envelopes are not signed or sealed (stamped) across the flap. If you require forms attached to the transcript or separately packaged transcripts, see the section on Special Processing below.

  • All paper transcripts are mailed
  • We do not fax transcripts (faxed transcripts are not official and the University cannot ensure confidentiality for any faxed documents)

How do I request a transcript?

Current students request a transcript via Axess, by mail, or in person at the Student Services Center located at Tresidder Memorial Union, 2nd floor.  Students or Alumni registered within the past five academic years, you should request transcripts through Axess.

  • Go to the Student tab from the Axess home page

  • In the drop down menu of the "Academics" section select the "Request Official Transcript" option

  • Select a Transcript Type

  • Select a processing option

    • Electronic Transcript: transcript emailed within 15 minutes (etranscripts can be sent to yourself, a third party, AMCAS, or LSAC)

    • Mailed 2nd Business Day: transcript mailed in two business days; allow an additional 5-7 days for mail delivery within the United States, and 15-20 for international delivery

    • SSC Pickup Option: transcript available at the Student Services Center the next day

    • Hold for Special Instructions: transcript held at the Student Services Center, to be completed per the special processing instructions (see below)

You will need a SUNetID and password; if you do not know your SUNetID or password please contact University IT. Alumni not registered for more than five years should see the Alumni Transcript page.

Summer Session Students

Summer Session nonmatriculated students may request a transcript via Axess, or in person at the Student Services Center located at Tresidder Memorial Union, 2nd floor. We are unable to accept telephone or rush requests.

Summer Session nonmatriculated students registered within the past five academic years, you should request transcripts through Axess.

  • Go to the Student tab from the Axess home page

  • In the drop down menu of the "Academics" section select the "Request Official Transcript" option

  • Select a Transcript Type

  • Select a processing option

    • Electronic Transcript – transcript emailed within 15 minutes

    • Mailed 2nd Business Day – transcript mailed in two business days; allow an additional 5-7 days for mail delivery within the United States, and 15-20 for international delivery

    • SSC Pickup Option– transcript available at the Student Services Center the next day

    • Hold for Special Instructions – transcript held at the Student Services Center, to be completed per the special processing instructions (see below)

You will need a SUNetID and password; if you do not know your SUNetID or password please contact ITS. If you experience any technical issues with requesting your transcript via Axess, please file a support request ticket with the Student Services Center.

Summer Session non-matriculated students registered more than five academic years ago, you should request transcripts using one of the below request methods.

  1. Go in person to the Student Services Center located at Tresidder Memorial Union, 2nd floor, and fill out a Transcript Request Form.

  2. Fill out a Transcript Request Form,  fill it in completely, and sign. If you wish to have your official transcript sent electronically, indicate this in the special instructions portion of the Transcript Request Form. (Note: email requests for eTranscripts may take up to 48 hours). You must include a send-to name and the email address of the recipient.

Transcript Special Processing: How to Communicate Instructions

Specific requests are required for any of the following:

  • Forms that need to be attached to the transcript
  • Separately packaged transcripts

When you order your transcripts through Axess, select Hold for Special Instructions, and write down the request number. For special packaging requests, put your instructions, including the transcript request number, in a support request. Email (etranscripts@stanford.edu), or deliver any applicable forms along with your request number to the Student Services Center located at Tresidder Memorial Union, 2nd floor.

Translation

The University is unable to provide translations of transcripts, diplomas, or other records to a language other than English.
