Transcripts for Alumni

Stanford University now offers an electronic transcript delivery option! See the Electronic Transcripts Information for Students & Alumni for more information.

Only official transcripts are available through the University Registrar. Each transcript has the signature of the Registrar and Stanford University seal. Envelopes are not signed or sealed (stamped) across the flap.  If you require forms to be attached to the transcript you can upload a document in our Document Ordering portal. All transcripts are separately packaged.

  • All paper transcripts are mailed

  • We do not fax transcripts (faxed transcripts are not official and the University cannot ensure confidentiality for any faxed documents)

How do I request an official transcript?

Alumni enrolled within the past 5 years:

Alumni enrolled at Stanford University within the past 5 years request transcripts via Axess.

  • Go to the Student tab from the Axess home page

  • Click "Request Official Transcript" from the menu on the left

  • You will then be routed to our Document Ordering Site

  • Select Transcript

    • Electronic Transcript – transcript emailed within 10 minutes (etranscripts can be sent to yourself, a third party, AMCAS, or LSAC)

    • Mailed 2nd Business Day – transcript mailed in two business days; allow an additional 5-7 days for mail delivery with in the United States, and 15-20 for international delivery

    • Expedited Shipping is available (See options in Document Ordering Portal)

You will need a SUNetID and password. If you do not know your SUNetID or password, contact ITS.

Alumni enrolled previous to 5 years ago:

Please visit our Document Ordering Portal to request electronic or paper transcripts.

Transcript Special Processing: How to Communicate Instructions

  • If you require forms to be attached to the transcript you can upload the document in our Document Ordering portal.

Requesting a Transcript for a Deceased Alum

If you are looking just for the confirmation of a degree and dates of attendance please use the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) Degree verify system.

If you are the next of kin and are trying to obtain the official transcript of a deceased person please upload and submit one of the following documents to our Document Ordering Portal.

  • Copy of the official death certificate 
  • Copy of your birth certificate showing the relationship to the deceased 

Please note that some older transcripts are images of microfilm and may not have the best clarity
