Transcripts for Alumni

Stanford University now offers an electronic transcript delivery option! See the Electronic Transcripts Information for Students & Alumni for more information.

Only official transcripts are available through the University Registrar. Each transcript has the signature of the Registrar and Stanford University seal. If multiple transcripts are requested to a single address, they will be packaged together in one envelope. If you require forms attached to the transcripts or separately packaged transcripts see the section on Special Processing.

  • All paper transcripts are mailed

  • We do not fax transcripts (faxed transcripts are not official and the University cannot ensure confidentiality for any faxed documents)

How do I request an official transcript?

Alumni enrolled within the past 5 years:

Alumni enrolled at Stanford University within the past 5 years request transcripts via Axess.

  • Go to the Student tab from the Axess home page

  • In the drop down menu of the "Academics" section select the "Request Official Transcript" option.

  • Click ‘Request Official Transcript

  • Select a Transcript Type

  • Select a processing option

    • Electronic Transcript – transcript emailed within 10 minutes (etranscripts can be sent to yourself, a third party, AMCAS, or LSAC)

    • Mailed 2nd Business Day – transcript mailed in two business days; allow an additional 5-7 days for mail delivery with in the United States, and 15-20 for international delivery

    • SSC Pickup Option– transcript available at the Student Services Center the next day

    • Hold for Special Instructions – transcript held at the Student Services Center to be completed per the special processing instructions (see below)

You will need a SUNetID and password. If you do not know your SUNetID or password, contact ITS.

Alumni enrolled previous to 5 years ago:

Please fill out a Transcript Request Form (pdf), and sign. If you wish to have your official transcript sent electronically, please make sure to complete the eTranscript portion of the form. Email ( the completed form to the Student Services Center. If you wish to place your request via email you must attach a scanned copy of your signed transcript request form.

Transcript Special Processing: How to Communicate Instructions

Specific requests are required for any of the following:

  • Forms that need to be attached to the transcript
  • Separately packaged transcripts

When you order your transcripts through Axess, select Hold for Special Instructions, and write down the request number. For special packaging requests, put your instructions, including the transcript request number, in a support request. Email (, or deliver any applicable forms along with your request number to the Student Services Center located at Tresidder Memorial Union, 2nd floor.

Requesting a Transcript for a Deceased Alum

If you are looking just for the confirmation of a degree and dates of attendance please use the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) Degree verify system.

If you are the next of kin and are trying to obtain the official transcript of a deceased person please submit the following along with the Transcript Request form (pdf):

  • Copy of the official death certificate 
  • Copy of your birth certificate showing the relationship to the deceased 

Please note that some older transcripts are images of microfilm and may not have the best clarity
